Schools Remain Closed

Dear AIS Community,

In response to the COVID-19 threat, the Council of Ministers of the Ethiopian Government have decreed a State of Emergency. Therefore, schools will remain closed until further notice.

To ensure that students continue learning, Andinet International School has started online learning for students in Primary through Secondary Divisions. Enrichment sessions are offered online for children in the Early Childhood Division. Additionally, implementation of a new LMS (Learning Management System) is underway. The LMS will help us improve student learning whether online or physically in the classrooms. More information about online learning will be addressed soon to answer your questions. We are excited to move forward in an effort to further assist our students, however the COVID-19 Pandemic has made final academic outcomes unknown. Change is uncomfortable. Our teachers are working in unfamiliar territory and we applaud their courage to suddenly learn new skills. Students and parents are also adjusting to the new schedules.

During this critical time we call upon our school community to be patient. Please do not add additional pressure to your children during this stressful time. Be careful of too much tutoring, especially into the late evening hours. While education is important; health and well-being are paramount. Children need physical exercise, play time and space to be creative, but most of all they need you – their parents. So let’s strive for balance. Spend some time with your children talking, playing or working together. Above all, remain positive, demonstrate love and compassion as we support one another during this epic educational journey.

Stay Safe!
