International Schools Sports Association of Addis Ababa

At Andinet we strongly believe in the value of extracurricular activities and friendly matches. Through participating in team sports, students learn team work, develop strong work habits and learn within International Schools Sport Association of Addis Ababa (ISSAAC) leagues and events next year.

The activities of ISSAAC in the 2009/ 2010 are the following.

Volleyball
Basket ball
Soccer
Tennis
Cross County
Track and Field

Among these Andinet International School participates in some events on three different seasons.

The first season is October – December. The activities are the following.

Junior Boys and Girls Basketball
Junior Varsity Boys Basketball
Elementary Boys and Girls Soccer

The second season is January- March. The activities are the following.

Junior Varsity Boys Soccer
Junior Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer
Junior Varsity Girls Basketball

The third season is March- May. The activities are the following.

Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball
Elementary Boys and Girls Short Distance Running
Junior Boys and Girls Short Distance Running

AIS staff and students also participate in Ethiopian Great Run, Women Confidence Run and Sports Day.

The teaching and learning process has changed over the years. New educational research is teaching us about the brain, how children learn, and what the brain needs to develop properly. With this new information, educators can let go of the rigidity of the past and create exciting learnig opportunities that incorporate fun and make teaching enjoyable.

Early Childhood Andinet

The Early Childhood Center of Andinet International School offers Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Preparatory education.

We provide a conducive environment where children are able to promote their development physically and psychologically and acquire the very essential of social interactions through play. We are committed to producing confident, vibrant individuals for primary school.

Primary School Andinet

The Primary School is where student begin to form good work habits by building on the solid Early Childhood foundation. Language skills are enhanced with continuation of phonics, reading, spelling, and creative writing. Stories are an important feature in English class, as well as in Amharic class. Amharic language class challenges students to improve their spelling, reading and writing in order to express themselves confidently.

Middle School Andinet

Middle School continues the tradition of students to ask questions and learn how to search for the answers. Middle School teachers are encouraged to bring the real world into the classroom to help students connect to real experiences. By relating subjects including: mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, and geography to life, students begin to see and understand their usefulness.

High School Andinet

We will be adding tenth grade as our second year of high school for the 2009-2010 academic year. Ethiopian students will sit for the Tenth Grade National Examinations. Plans are underway to begin international assessments and examinations.

We are undergoing preparations to offer the widely recognized International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for grades 9 and 10.

We are proud to proclaim the upgrade of our highschool with the Ethiopian Preparatory Program for grade 11.

Introducing the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) at AIS

The IPC is the first curriculum in the world to have international-mindedness explicitly built into the learning.

Representing international schools on the continent of Africa, AISA has a membership of schools which range in size from 20 to 3600 students.
